托马斯·索维尔（Thomas Sowell），美国当代杰出的自由主义经济学大师，芝加哥经济学派代表人物之一。现为斯坦福大学胡佛研究所高级研究员，曾在康奈尔大学、加州大学等讲授经济学，还在政府部门担任经济学顾问，获得过包括总统人文成就奖、全国人文学科奖、布莱德雷基金奖在内的众多荣誉。 他的著作有《美国种族简史》《知识分子与社会》《实用经济学》《被掩盖的经济真相》《房地产的繁荣与萧条》《知识和决策》等30多部作品，其中一些甚至多次再版。他的《经济学的思维方式》（Basic Economics）一书已被译成六种语言。其文章和随笔多次发表于《财富》《时代周刊》《纽约时报》《华盛顿邮报》等知名媒体。
